Industries We Serve

What we've actually made says more than a list of what we can do.

FORMFTY HUB in Taipei, Taiwan does product design, 3D printed prototyping and low-volume production for robotics, medical training models, drones, teaching equipment, industrial equipment and hardware startups; MORE DESIGN alone has completed more than 200 design and development projects across 20+ industries. Below are the fields with the most published cases, each linked to a real project that names the client and the part of the work we did.

Robotics

A robot housing has to work for sensor field of view, heat dissipation, service openings and the way it will be mass produced, all at once. On the d.ASH-ER autonomous mobile robot we handled product definition, industrial design, mechanical design, prototyping and the low-volume run. It was shown at COMPUTEX in 2024.

Medical devices and medical training models

For FREE Bionics' HipBO and KneeBO exoskeletons, MORE DESIGN planned the exterior, CMF and part split, and close to 200 sets were 3D printed in our factory. For Fu Jen Catholic University's bronchoscopy training model, the work started with DICOM image processing and led to a version 2.0 with locally replaceable sections. Our medical cases describe design and manufacturing only and make no claims about clinical efficacy.

Drones

On REI's commercial drone, MORE DESIGN was responsible for the exterior, CMF and artwork. Parts for the prototype and engineering units were 3D printed and used to verify functional assembly.

Education and lab equipment

National Taiwan University's electrochemical reactor teaching model needed 100 units for its first run. Conventional tooling was estimated at about NT$825,000; 3D printing came to about NT$130,000 (MORE DESIGN × FORMFTY MANUFACTURE EDM newsletter, 2024).

Industrial equipment and AI devices

For KING'S Solution's Smart Edge benchtop low-pressure injection molding machine, MORE DESIGN did the form, CMF and user interface. DICLANO's AI smart chess clock was designed, prototyped and produced entirely by FORMFTY.

Hardware startups

Teams building hardware for the first time often have nothing more than an idea or a sketch. That's a fine place to start. We pin down the use, quantity, material, quality, cost and timeline first, then decide how far the design needs to go, how many prototype rounds to plan and how it should be produced. Skip that step and go straight to drawing, and it's common to find halfway through that the battery won't fit or the cost can't reach the price you want to sell at, and start over.

Q&A

Questions we often get

What industries has FORMFTY made products for?
Robotics, exoskeletons, drones, AI devices, wearables, beverage equipment, injection molding equipment, and medical training models and teaching equipment. Published projects are on the case studies page, each stating which part of the work we did.
What matters most when designing a robot housing?
Sensor field of view, heat dissipation, service openings and how it will be mass produced, all at the same time. On the d.ASH-ER autonomous mobile robot, we handled product definition, industrial design, mechanical design, prototyping and the low-volume run.
Do you make medical training models?
Yes. Fu Jen Catholic University's bronchoscopy training model started from DICOM image processing; the second version was changed to sectioned assembly with locally replaceable parts. Our medical cases describe design and manufacturing only and make no claims about clinical efficacy.
We're a first-time hardware startup with only an idea. Can we work with you?
Yes. We start by pinning down the use, quantity, material, quality, cost and timeline, then decide how far the design needs to go, how many prototype rounds to plan and how it should be produced.

Tell us what you want to make. We will handle the rest.
