Mass-Production Support
When volumes grow, move the product to the process that suits it.
MORE DESIGN × FORMFTY MANUFACTURE — a FORMFTY HUB company
FORMFTY's mass-production support in Taipei, Taiwan plans the next step for products that have already been through prototyping and low-volume runs, arranging sheet metal, CNC machining, mold making and injection molding through one point of contact. 3D printing suits 2 to 300 parts. When you need more than that, or a material or finish that only a mold can give, the dimensions, materials and cosmetic requirements confirmed during prototyping are handed over with the project.

When to move to mass production
- Quantity
- When unit price and lead time start to beat 3D printing.
- Material
- When you need a specific engineering plastic, metal or surface finish that 3D printing can't deliver.
- Appearance
- When you need consistent mold texture or high gloss, or the same color across large quantities.
Processes we can plan
- Sheet metal
- Enclosures, brackets and structural parts.
- CNC machining
- Precision metal and plastic parts, jigs and fixtures.
- Mold making
- Tooling planned around the product's structure and volume.
- Injection molding
- High-volume production of plastic parts.
What tooling and production support covers
- Before tooling
- Mass-production feasibility assessment and mold design review.
- Pilot run
- Pilot run review and setting the acceptance specs for production.
- Production
- Quality control and inspection, plus help with assembly, packaging and shipping.

Launch before the mold is ready
Tooling takes time. While the mold is being made, a low-volume 3D printed run can get product to your first customers or onto the shelf for a test sale. This is bridge production. Without it, the product sits on paper for the whole tooling period, and market feedback has to wait until the mold is done.
Confidentiality, quality and response time
- Confidentiality
- We can sign an NDA before we look at your files. Confidential projects are handled by a dedicated person and shipped under a code name.
- Quality
- ISO 9001 quality management system. Parts that don't meet spec are remade, guaranteed.
- Response
- Inquiries get a first reply within 6 working hours (Taiwan time, GMT+8).
- Formal quote
- The 6-hour reply is a first response: we confirm what you need and ask for anything missing. The formal quote comes separately, based on your files, quantity and material.
Questions we often get
- At what quantity should I consider injection molding?
- There's no universal number. 3D printing suits 2 to 300 parts. Above that, or when a material or finish needs a mold, it's worth costing tooling alongside.
- Which mass-production processes can FORMFTY help with?
- Sheet metal, CNC machining, mold making and injection molding. That covers mass-production feasibility assessment and mold review before tooling, pilot run review and acceptance specs, and quality inspection, assembly, packaging and shipping support during production.
- Can my 3D printed prototype file go straight to tooling?
- Usually not. It needs DFM changes first, such as adding draft angles, adjusting wall thickness and dealing with undercuts, before tooling starts.
- Can we sell the product while the mold is being made?
- Yes. While the mold is in progress, a low-volume 3D printed run gets product to your first customers or onto the shelf for test sales.
Tell us what you want to make. We will handle the rest.
